Abstract

This is a practical research of a parenting intervention, which educates volunteers as community workers. After participating in this educational program, participants formed a parental support group and they have started to support mothers and children in the community. The purpose of this research is to clarify the change in volunteer’s self-efficacy and network through the program and practice of parenting intervention.

The method of research 1 is to target 67 people to be analyzed. Using the questionnaire, we analyze the participant’s self-efficacy, their attitudes towards parenting support and their attitudes towards the community. In research 2, we made a PAC analysis, in which 3 leaders were interviewed for this parenting intervention activity.

The results suggest the followings: Research 1 suggests that participants of this educational program increased action and participation in the community, however there was no change in their self-efficacy. Research 2 suggests that as participant’s personal networking increased, they felt some responsibility towards their network. They have been supported by membership, built through the parenting intervention activity.
