Abstract
We have been investigating the chemical systematics, which was related to flavonoid, anthocyanine and allelopathy study in Viola species. The specific products and distribution among Viola species have also already reported. Genus Viola has been used as a Chinese herbal medicine, SHIKAJICHO, for some disease, antipyretic one and painkiller etc. Some functional substances, vicenin-2, apigenin glycoside, have already been reported but more details of natural products in viola group has not been investigated. To study as medicinal plant in viola, natural products and their biological activity were analyzed. We have already had some chemical information and accumulation in Viola species, especially in flavonoid, The flavonid compounds in the several species of viola seedlings were analyzed by HPLC and LC-ESI/MS. A main flavonid extracted from V. Japonica was identified as acacetin glycoside. We will discuss the extracted substances and their functions as medicinal. plant.
