Abstract
Associated with the ever-increasing pervasiveness of the Internet, the needs for publishing statistical information in a standardized format have increased. Consequently, by being implemented, XML came to play an important role in achieving these aims. Here we present an overview of XML and introduce several applications employing this metalanguage. In addition, using practical examples, methods for describing data and statistical graphics by XML are presented. Finally, points considered important for using XML effectively are also presented.
