Abstract
The study on numerical simulation of hyperelastic stress analysis is presented. An aim of the study is to apply the simulation to rubber seal of hydraulic gates, where experimental studies with expensive rubber mould are general for each case.
The difficulty in hyperelastic stress analysis lies in treatment of large deformation and imcompressibility. In rubber seal analysis moreover, it is necessary to take nonlinear friction force into account for some contact region.
Authors succeeded well in the above analysis by adapting Lagrange's method and control of additional displacements in the calculation.
The simulation of deformation of a inflating type seal rubber which is to be used for hydraulic head above 80m shows good reliability in comparison with experimental results. In that simulation, stress distribution in the rubber can also be estimated. Another simulation on a P-shaped seal rubber shows also its usefulness in finding rubber deformation under slide movement of gate with friction and hydraulic load.
