Abstract
Experimental work to apply a slide type rubber seal of dam gates to high pressure region near 1 MPa is presented. Test rig was constructed from a model gate driven by a hydraulic piston and a rubber seal whose sectional dimension is same with a prototype. Dimensions of the model gate were 2m in width and 0.7m in sliding direction. Effort was made to reduce pinching the rubber into clearance between the gate and a member to fix the rubber in dam bed during the gate shutdown operation. Five types of the fixing member were examined to find-out small pinching. Test result shows that the examined slide type rubber seal and fixing member will work well in pressure region of 0.8-1.2 MPa without excessive stress condition.
