Abstract
Obstruction of arteriovenous fistulas is one of the most troublesome complications seen in chronic hemodialysis patients, and repeated surgical interventions impose mental and physical burdens on patients.
We report here two cases with chronic renal failure in which Doppler ultrasonography proved to be useful for measuring arterial blood flow at the wrist before creation of an arteriovenous fistula, especially in the anatomical snuff box (Tabaciére).
It was suggested that blood flow measurements by Doppler ultrasonography might be useful in eliciting the optimal flow volume for improving the patency of a Tabaciere fistula.
