Abstract
We constructed a 6-week curriculum of project-based-learning exercise entitled “Design and
Implementation of Virtual Space” and practiced twice a year from 2006. Based on that exercise, we performed interactive remote teaching trials using shared virtual space between two universities two times in 2008 and 2010. After those trials, we have improved the exercise curriculum by employing the tactile information to the virtual space in addition to existing visual and auditory information. A workshop for the tactile device has been inserted to the exercise curriculum. Then, we plan to expand the interactive remote teaching trials to two directions: the first one is the sharing of the tactile information in the shared virtual space, and the second one is the generalization of development platform, that is, hardware and software. This paper describes our improvement of the exercise and the result of confirmation experiment for remote
sharing of tactile information and generalization of platform.
