Abstract
The purpose of this study was to review the research on boreout and organize the findings on boreout and the research that should be conducted in Japan in the future. The search database was “Google Scholar,” and academic papers published by April 30, 2024, were selected using the condition that “boreout” or “bore-out” must be included in the title or abstract. As a result, there were zero Japanese papers and 17 English papers (excluding unrelated papers). Although these studies identified the concept of boreout, its measurement scale, and related factors, many issues remain to be addressed because it is a new field. Since there have been no studies on boreout in Japan, we hope that boreout research in our country will be developed by referring to research issues in other countries.
