Juntendo Hospital, which is affiliated with Juntendo University School of Medicine, has been conducting surveillance for central line-associated bloodstream infections (CLABSI) in all wards since April 2010. Comprehensive surveillance to identify all infections in the hospital is considered time-consuming, labor-intensive, and inefficient. To overcome these challenges, Juntendo Hospital has implemented a data collection method that involves extracting bloodstream infection cases from electronic medical records with the support of the Antimicrobial Stewardship Team for infectious disease consultations. This approach has significantly reduced data collection time and enabled the identification of "high-risk wards." This article describes the implementation and interventions of CLABSI surveillance in all wards of Juntendo Hospital.
