Abstract

HLA-A, -B, -C, -DR and -DQ typing was done in 21 patients (12 males and 9 females) with bilateral Meniere's disease. Their ages ranged from 39 to 74 years (average, 54.3 years). None of them had a family history of Meniere's disease.
HLA-Bw56 antigen was found in 14% (3/21) of the patients. The frequency of the HLA-Bw56 antigen was higher than in healthy control (1/120, p=0.010), but the difference was not significant after corrections were done for the number of antigens tested.
