Abstract

  Background

Robotic-assisted nephroureterectomy (RANU) was covered by the Japanese National Health Insurance system in April 2022. In this report, we describe the application of RANU using HAND CONTROL ASSIGNMENTS in the Da Vinci Xi® system.

  Methods

Lymph node dissection was not performed, and the patient was placed in a semi-lateral decubitus position. The procedure was performed transperitoneally. After the kidney was dissected, the location of each instrument was changed without changing the position of the camera ; using HAND CONTROL ASSIGNMENTS, a setting change function built into the Da Vinci Xi®, the right hand operated only the monopolar curved scissors, and the left hand switched between the fenestrated bipolar forceps and the ProGrasp forceps by a clutch operation. All procedures were performed without port repositioning or redocking.

  Conclusion

We presented the technology of RANU in our hospital. The use of HAND CONTROL ASSIGNMENTS to select manipulation arm assignments contributed to good maneuverability.
