Abstract

Solar distillation system is a promising technology to obtain clean water using renewable solar energy. In this study, we investigated the controlled condensate collection for developing efficient condenser. We fabricated hydrophilic-hydrophobic hybrid Cu surfaces: the hydrophobic area was achieved by self-assembled monolayer, and the hydrophilic area was patterned using sandblasting. To enhance condensate drainage, we also fabricated hybrid surfaces with grooves. Then the condensate collection rate was evaluated using the prepared samples.
