Abstract

In order to improve the accuracy of estimating cell temperatures during PV power generation, a temperature estimation equation was derived based on the energy balance and including forced convection heat transfer. We conducted power generation experiments using a regular panel and a panel with insulation on the backside, and calculated the heat flux from the cells to confirm the effect of forced convection heat transfer in the panel. The root mean square error (RMSE) of the estimated temperature was 4.53 K, which was lower than -1 K in 61% of the cases. When forced convection heat transfer was halved, the RMSE was 2.51 K, an improvement of 44.6%.
