Abstract

Fe/N/C type oxygen reduction catalysts were prepared using nitrogen-doped KB to increase the activity of non-platinum oxygen reduction catalysts. The results showed that nitrogen doping increased the surface nitrogen concentration of the catalyst by a factor of up to 1.85. The onset potential where oxygen reduction current flows (@0.1 mA mg−1) increased up to 0.031 V, and XPS measurements suggested that the Fe-N type nitrogen was the active site, whereas the 4e- electron reduction efficiencies of the catalysts decreased by 4~26%.
