60　Regeneration and sustainability of semi-natural grasslands through the installation of PV systems in plantations

Abstract

We proposed an economic model in which the revenue from PV systems installed on land cleared of old plantations would cover the cost of maintaining semi-natural grasslands and evaluated its sustainability. It was found that PV systems could be installed on 1-10% of the area of abandoned plantations to maintain the grassland. Subsidies for initial investment are important to improve sustainability. It is expected that biodiversity will increase as organisms move into the regenerated semi-natural grassland from surrounding grasslands and the bottom of power lines.
