Abstract

Ground Source Heat Pump (GSHP) systems utilize the ground’s thermal properties for space heating and cooling, offering significant potential as a renewable energy technology. Our lab developed an integrated design tool that allows for the precise selection of GSHP systems based on a building's thermal load and HVAC data. Hosted on a cloud platform, the tool allows for parameter settings, simulations, and result visualization. Using this tool, we designed a GSHP system for an energy-efficient building and conducted long-term operation, assessing its energy performance and analyzing the effects of borehole spacing and cooling tower integration on system efficiency, finally determining the optimal design solution.
