Thermochemical energy storage (TCES) utilizes the heat from chemical reactions, and is one of the most promising TES technologies, with the potential for higher energy efficiency than other TES methods. The perovskite oxide systems are known to involve a variation of non-stoichiometry (δ) beyond wide range of working temperature during the charging/discharging step. In this study, the redox reactivity, TCES capacity, and working temperature of calcium-manganese perovskite oxide under various oxygen partial pressures were investigated for use in next-generation CSP. Furthermore, thermochemical storage units were prepared using the powder sample. The thermal stability of thermochemical storage unit was tested in electric furnace.
