Abstract
In this study, in order to clarify the effects of a pesticide, BPMC, on fish metabolic system, their plasma were examined by 1H-NMR metabolomics approach. Carps, Cyprinus carpio, were exposed to waterborne BPMC with nominal concentrations of 10 µg/L (L-group) and 5 mg/L (H-group). Plasmas were collected on Day 0, 3, 7 and 14 during exposure period. Results showed that the pattern of metabolic changes in H-group varied with exposure period, thus, after longer exposure, strong effect was observed in carp at H-group. In addition, many metabolites in H-group were significantly higher compared with L-group and control, especially at day 14, and some metabolites didn’t change until Day14. However, the number of metabolites changed in both groups were similar at Day3. Furthermore, almost all of the essential amino acids were significantly higher in H-group at day 14. These increase in metabolites suggests that carp needed high energy in order to maintain homeostasis.
