Abstract
Following the treatment of 1 ppm Dipterex the metacercaria of yellow grub Clinostomum complanatum (RUD., 1819) which parasitized the cultivated ayu in Taiwan could excyst from the muscle, penetrate into the internal organs and initiate death of the fish.
Loach and ayu were demonstrated to be the second intermediate host, the Radix snail is its first intermediate host. In the in vitro culture system, the metacercaria could maintain their activity up to three months and still possess infectivity, but could not reach the mature stage.
Following 2-3 days ingestion of metacercaria by herons, the final host, the adults were found in the esophagus and mouth cavity.
