Abstract
This paper deals with drying shrinkages of concrete with surface finishes such as tiles and paints. 13 kinds of specimens of 30cm x 30cm in cross sectiion and 18 cm thickness were prepared and the influences of surface finishes on the drying shrinkages were investigated. Drying shrinkages of concretes were measured with embedded gauges. The test results showed that the surface finishes strongly affected the drying shrinkages of concrete and close relationship between the drying shrinkage and the moisture evaporation was obtained. Based on these results,the influence of surface finishes might be evaluated as multipliers of the surface area of the concrete
member.
