Abstract
We studied the relationship between the number of figures and examination time of abdominal ultrasonography in 50 patients (Category 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 4’ of the Manual for Abdominal Ultrasound in Cancer Screening: 2, 18, 6, 11, 12, and 1, respectively) from May 25 to July 25, 2017. The time of ultrasonography and number of recorded images on standard examination of abdominal aorta, liver, gallbladder and bile duct, pancreas, spleen, and kidney as well as those on total examination (i.e., standard and through examinations) were examined. The standard examination time and the number of images was from 9 to 47 (average, 16) min. and from 20 to 188 (64), respectively. The total examination time and the number of images was from 11 to 119 (20) min. and from 22 to 632 (125), respectively. The examination time increased in accordance with the number of images in both standard and total examination. The time and number of images of all standard examinations increased in high-category patients. The number of images per minute ranged from 1.8 to 7.0 (average, 3). We thus conclude that the number of images on ultrasonography per minute should be three.
