Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the generalizability as well as face validity and utilization possibility of the assessment sheet to determine the necessity of home visiting nursing service (hereinafter referred to as “assessment sheet”).
Method:To investigate the generalizability, we conducted a mail survey by sending a self-administered questionnaire to care managers working at 80 care management offices across the country, asking them to provide answers about all older adults in need of coordinated serviced by care managers. To investigate the face validity and utilization possibility, we conducted a self-administered questionnaire survey of 30 care managers. The surveys were conducted from June to July, 2011.
Analysis of the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves revealed an area under the curve (AUC) of 0.70, 95% confidence interval (CI) of 0.64-0.76, sensitivity of 68.1%, specificity of 63.4%, and positive predictive value of 60.5%. As compared to the values obtained at the time when the assessment sheet was created, there was a little decrease of the sensitivity, however, the specificity and positive predictive value were maintained. In the survey about the face validity, the response from 70.8% of the participants was “It was appropriate.”
The results lent support to the generalizability and utilization possibility of this assessment sheet to some extent, which suggests that wide use of this sheet may be effective.
