Abstract
This study was described the activities contents of the public health nurses who continues working after East Japan great earthquake disaster, and offered the significance of their activities. In addition, using general ideas of “work engagement”, “professional identity” and “community of practice”, we discussed the essential factors to continue working with vigor and enthusiasm for health care and welfare professionals. Thinking through public health nurses' activities at the disaster area, we were suggested necessary of two factors to continue working with vigor and enthusiasm. One was the “community of practice” as the resources of their work to develop their “work engagement”, and the other was the forming the “professional identity” as the resources of their own, and to continue developing it.
