Abstract
Gaseous thermal conductivities of six fluorinated ethers, which are expected to be the promising alternatives for the traditional blowing agents, have been measured by a transient hot-wire method at temperatures a little higher than their normal boiling points. The uncertainty of the thermal conductivity obtained in this work is estimated to be within 1 %. In the comparison with the other candidates for the alternative blowing agents, HFCs, it is found that the fluorinated ethers show a little lower thermal conductivities and possess better performance as insulating materials.
