Abstract

This study analyzed and validated local meteoric water line (LMWL) and amount and temperature effects over Japan using intensive observation data in 2013. Observed slope of LMWL was high in Western Japan and low in Eastern Japan, while that of interception was high in the Sea of Japan side and low in the Pacific Ocean side. These spatial patterns could be reproduced by an isotopic regional model, however the model underestimated interception of LMWL in the Sea of Japan side, due to underestimate d-excess of precipitation. On the other hand, observed temperature effect was recognized on the Eastern Japan, while observed amount effect was recognized on the Eastern and Western Japan. The model could show spatial pattern of temperature effect, but could not reproduce that of amount effect. In this presentation, we will show characteristics of stable isotopes of precipitation including seasonal and spatial variation.
