Abstract

1. Introduction

Based on the results of water quality measurements and analyses of river water in the volcanic areas of Tokachi-dake, Ontake, Asama, Kusatsu-Shiranesan, Hakone, and Shinmoe-dake, we attempted to compare the water quality in the water environment around each volcano and to understand the relationship between the characteristics of volcanoes and the water quality.

2. Summary

The relationship between the last volcanic activity (magmatic eruption) at a volcano and EC values around the volcanic body shows a certain correlation, suggesting that the development of hydrothermal systems at each volcano and the most recent volcanic activity may have influenced the volcanic activity by the quality of surface water. In the future, we would like to explore methods for comparative research among volcanoes, paying attention to the effects of land use and wind-blown salt around volcanoes, and focusing on the relationship with dissolved constituents as well as EC.
