Understanding mechanism of gas exchange between atmosphere and blood is one of the important parts of respiratory physiology. We describe the important theories and relevant formulae for respiratory care. Most of the formulae can be derived by ideal gas equation and Dalton's law. The new, easily understanding way to derive alveolar gas equation is also shown.
