Sedation of patients in the ICU is sometimes difficult. There have been overseas reports of good sedation management using volatile inhalation anesthetics in pediatric patients with sedation difficulties, but information is limited. In this report, we describe two cases in which sevoflurane was used to manage sedation in pediatric patients on ventilatory management in our ICU. In both patients, the doses of intravenous sedatives were able to be reduced and the patient was weaned from the ventilator. The use of sevoflurane appears to be an option in the management of sedation in pediatric patients.
