Abstract
Recently, we have got some case studies of an application of EAD, Encoded Archival Description to the Japanese archival descriptions or archival finding aids. However, those experiments do not have common data format. This article examines the structure and format of EAD data in some best practice guidelines for EAD (BPG-EAD) in America. It also extracts technical points about the data construction and archival management. In addition, it presents the approach of supporting tools for the EAD-data construction based on one of these BPG-EAD.
