Identifying Newly-coined Terms which are to be Important in Special Domains

Abstract

A method for recognizing the words which are to be important in special domains will be reported. If such method is obtained, it will be helpful for selecting entry terms when compiling dictionaries and for detecting emerging trends. A set of informatics papers which ranges 17 years is used for investigation and the state of the vocabulary when the new word appeared is regarded as the clue for forecasting. How the measures which have been proposed in automatic term extraction are effective for such task will be examined.
