Abstract
Often short introductory essays on a back cover are referred before picking a book to read. However, impressions after reading the book are not always the same as what is expected from the essays. These inconsistency may be caused by the difference between the point of view before reading and after reading, besides misunderstanding the essays. In this study, we examined the difference between the viewpoints before reading and after reading by comparing book reviews after reading with those described before reading in expectation of what would be felt. We analyzed word classes and categories of meanings of the terms appeared in the texts described both before and after reading the sample of 10 books and found that the word classes and categories of meanings of the terms were almost in common. Accordingly, the fact that both of the viewpoints focused on before and after reading were quite consistent was found.
