Classification and quantitative analysis of rhetoric used in thematic essays

Abstract

　There have been few attempts to quantitatively analyze the rhetoric and stylistic characteristics of Japanese essays other than the metaphors used. In this study, in order to identify the rhetoric used by different authors in different essays and the rhetoric suitable for each theme of the essay, we compiled data on the rhetoric used. Based on the data obtained, the characteristics of the rhetoric used in the essays were quantitatively extracted. The results revealed the rhetoric used by each author based on his or her strategy.
