Analysis of the diffusion of articles on Twitter -A case study in the COVID-19 related article-

Abstract

　In recent years，there have been many mentions of academic information on social networking services (SNS)，and thereさ is a movement to use mentions to evaluate academic information．However，few studies have analyzed the extent to which these postings have spread．The purpose of this study is to clarify the aspect of academic communication on SNS by analyzing the degree of spillover of mentions on Twitter ，the COVID-19 related article that may include many non-researchers as mentioned users．As a result，we found that mentions of the target article spread widely．One of the possible reasons for this is that the strength of the social interest in the topic may be related．However，it is difficult to say that a high-profile topic will have a widespread，since the degree of the spread varied from one reference to another．In other words，it is difficult to say that the simple count of the number of mentions on SNS directly indicates the level of social interest in the article，and we need to be careful in evaluating academic information by using the number of mentions on SNS.
