Abstract

 The Koji-Ruien is a large-scale encyclopedia initiated as a national project by the Meiji government. Its compilation began in 1879 (Meiji 12), and the publication was completed between 1896 and 1914. The encyclopedia comprises 1,000 volumes, published as 350 Japanese-style books and 51 Western-style books, totaling 67,206 pages and 40,354 entries. The entries are hierarchically organized into sections and fields and include quotations from a wide range of pre-modern text son cultural concepts prior to the Meiji period. This makes the Koji-Ruien a valuable reference for understanding Japanese cultural history. To date, knowledge graph shave been constructed for 13 sections. Including Ten, Saiji, Chi, and Teio. and published as Linked Open Data (LOD) under the name Koji-Ruien LOD. In this study first outlines the structure and contents of the Koji-Ruien LOD. Then, focusing on the “Chi” (Geography) section, it aims to identify and analyze the relationships between entries related to place names, topography, and geography, and the historical sources cited within the Koji-Ruien.
