Abstract

This paper presents a collection of 640 use cases of DIAS (Data Integration and Analysis System) datasets, collected between October 2021 and January 2026 by manually identifying data references based on multiple search strategies, primarily using Google Scholar. The collection is published as Mahalo Cards on the Mahalo Button system. Analysis revealed that data DOI citations appear primarily in reference lists, while non-DOI mentions frequently appear in acknowledgments. The self-citation rate was 16.7%, a relatively low figure, indicating broad uptake of DIAS datasets beyond their creators. Non-article use cases, including government documents and web articles, were also identified, which are not captured by academic literature databases.
