Abstract

We have examined effect of superoxide dismutase on prostaglandin E₂ levels in rat gastric mucosa. After injection of superoxide dismutase, gastric mucosal prostaglandin E₂ levels tend to increase. On the other hand, dimethyldithiocarbamate, an inhibiter of superoxide dismutase lowered prostaglandin E₂ levels. These results suggest that superoxide dismutase may regulate prostaglandin synthesis in rat gastric mucosa.
