Abstract

This paper explores how students grow their competency in regional collaborative activities by voluntary participation and discusses a way of bringing up them. We focus on the change in their psychology and action.

As a result, the following facts are found. In the case of the University of Kitakyushu, First, although participants face various kinds of problems in initial stages, they can get useful advices from senior students, which lead to solve these problems. Next, they tend to get broader sight, psychological change such as stronger responsibility and sense of identification, and behavioral change to have awareness on the part of the persons concerned.

Then, they begin to take actions to transmit information and see whole phases of the project, which result to deeply consider the objective of their own actions. This behavioral change is more marked and causes them to have a way of thinking to read the future and take proper risk management, if they become central and important members. In this way, students can improve practical activity skill through action program connected to local society.
