Abstract
We reviewed 22 joints in 19 patients with terminal coxarthrosis and unreduced congenital dislocation of hip joints. In all cases bipolar femoral head replacement with acetabuloplasty was performed. The average age was 53 years (range 45 to 62 years) . The duration of follow- up was from 5 to 40 months (average 14 months) . A new method for the estimation of operative techniques in acetabulum was used. The degrees of acetabuler reaming and bone graft were analysed.
Clinical results were satisfactory and good pain relief was achieved. There weren't any early major complications. Postoperative X-ray findings showed a clear zone between the outer head and acetabulum, and bone graft was united in all cases. Migration of the outer head (more than 0.5 mm) was recognized in 10 cases, but there was progressive migration in 2 cases.
