Abstract
Stated in the following are the results obtained from the investigation made on the pharmacological activities of thiamine tetrahydrofurfuryl disulfide (TTFD) .
1. Mouse LD50 of TTFD was 800 mg/kg by the subcutaneous injection made on the dorsal portion.
2. Rabbits received an intravenous injection of TTFD under urethane anesthesia showed increase of the blood pressure as well as excited respiration.
3. TTFD showed an inhibitory action on the isolated heart of rabbit and toad and caused dilatation of the coronary and ear-lobe blood vessels. It showed no effect, however, on the hind leg vessels of the toad.
4. Pendular movement of the extirpated intestine of rabbit was inhibited by TTFD. Movement of the isolated uterus of rabbit was reduced, but its tension was enhanced.
5. In view of the findings of the respiratory and circulatory systems of rabbit andd toad, TTFD was found to show no appreciable influence on the effect of adrenaline.
