Abstract
To clearify the relation between the changes of serum protein component and the production of antibody in the schistosomiasis the author studied experimentally on the changes of serum protein components of mice and the precipitin reaction which conducted with 3 agents prepared from adult worms cercariae and eggs in mice and rabbit with schistosomiasis. The changes in serum protein component were investigated by the paper-electrophoresis.
Experimental results were as follows:
1) . Total protein was increased after 3 weeks and reached the maximam after 9 weeks after the primary infection and showed further increase after the superinfection.
2) . Decrease in albumin was recognized in 5 weeks but 8.9 weeks later it recovered to the normal. The albumin of mice superrinfected after 2-3 weeks after the primary infection showed a decrease less than that of the control, but when the superinfection . was performed after 4-7 weeks after the primary infection albumin showed an increase when compared with that of the control.
3) . Increase in α-globulin was recognized in 5 weeks and it reached the maximum in 9 weeks, and after snperinfection the changes of a-globulin wre scearcely found.
4) . The increase in β-globulin was recognized in 5 weeks and reached the maximum in 6 weeks after primary infection and after the superinfection the changes of β-globulin depend upon the number of worms.
5) . The remarkable increase in γ-glnbuln was recognized in 6 weeks and reaceing the maximum in 7 weeks. After the superinfection the changes of γ-globulin depends upon the number of the infected worms.
6) . The remarkable decrease in A/G ratio was observed in 5 weeks and reaching the maximum in 6 weeks after the primary infection. After the superinfection the changes of A/G ratio was scarcely found.
The result of the precipition test conducted with 3 kind of antigens was as follows.
1) . Worm antigen gave a positive result 2-3 weeks infection.
2) . Cercarial antigen showed positive result in mise and rabbits in 3 weeks after the primary infection.
3) . Egg antigen gave a positive results in mice and rabbits in 5 weeks infection.
It is considered that the decrease of albumin has no correlation with precipitin reacrion when those 3 antigens were used. The increase of α-globulin has correlation with precipitin reaction conducted with the use of worm and cercarial antigens. When egg antigen was used the increase of β-globulin has correlation with precipitin reaction and the increase of γ-globulin has correlation with precipitin reaction when those 3 antigens are used.
