Abstract
Immunologic studies were performed on the erytheropoietin with the antierythropoietin-sera (anti-E sera) obtained from rabbits immunized by erythropoietic active human anemic urine and phenylhydrazine-treated rabbits sera.
Results were as follows :
1) No marked changes of hemoglobin concentration, hematocrit, erythrocyte count and reticulocyte count were noted in the rabbits during the course of immunization for the production of anti-E sera.
2) The titer of antierythropoietic activity of obtained sera had no specific relation with .circulating blood counts of immunized rabbits.
3) Different level of antierythropoietic titer was obtained even immunized with same .antigenic material of same amount.
4) Antisera obtained from rabbits immunized by human anemic urinary erythropoietin neutralized not only human anemic urine but phenylhydrazine-treated rabbits serum employing the bioassay method and immunological precipitation reaction.
5) Different result of positive rate of erythropoietic activity in cord plasma was obtained as comparing two methods-bioassay and immunological precipitation reaction.
6) Erythropoietic activity of anabolic hormone (s) was not neutralized by anti-E sera.
