Abstract
Tissue resistances were measured across about 50 strips of intestines from duodenum and ileum of rabbits. Resistances were measured over 30 min. while soaking the strips in constantly flowing isotonic sucrose solution. The results show that the resistance of the duodenum muscle is significantly higher than that of the ileum muscle. The specific resistance of duodenum and ileum after 10 min. in isotonic sucrose was calculated to be 4.7×103Ωcm and 7.2×103Ωcm. After 25 min. the nexuses were ruptured because the solution contains no calcium ions, so the difference of resistances of these two muscles became statistically insignificant.
Rupturing the nexuses by perf using the hypertonic sucrose solution increased the resistance of the tissue about twice.
It is suggested that the some difference in the nexuses of duodenum and ileum might exsistes.
