Abstract
Effects of stellate ganglion block therapy (SGBT) for allergic rhinitis (AR) were studied in forty-two patients suffering from AR. As clinical curative effects of SGBT, we investigated improvement of four main symptomes of AR (sneezing, watery discharge, nasal obstruction, and itching around eyes and nose) by judgement of patients. In twenty eight patients received SGBT in 1985, efficacy was recognized 89.3% for sneezing, 85.1% for watery discharge, 77% for nasal obstruction, and 87.5% for itching around eyes and nose. As for fourteen patients received SGBT in 1984, improvement of nasal symptom was found also in the next year, 1985. Efficacy of these patients in 1985 was 50% for sneezing, 42.8% for watery discharge, 45.5% for nasal obstruction, and 75% for itching around eyes and nose. In ten patients of 1985, laboratory examinations of RAST, IgG, and IgE were not changed significantly by SGBT.
