Abstract
A 55-year-old male visited a neighboring hospital because of right lower abdominal pain with macrohematuria. Roentgenography revealed a passed right ureteral stone. Right hydronephrosis continued after passing the stone. So he was transferred and admitted to our hospital on October 7th, 1987. A retrocaval ureter was diagnosed from the characteristic location of the right ureter by means of inferior venacavography and transpercutaneous pyeloure-terography. He underwent an end-to-end anastomosis of the right ureter. Pathological dia-gnosis of the ureter removed at the operation was chronic ureteritis. Postoperative IVP showed neither ureteral stenosis nor stone, and improved dilation of the calyces and ureter. We report our case, and statistics of 284 cases of retrocaval ureter in Japan.
