Abstract
Endosalpingiosis is defined as ectopic fallopian tube epithelium. The lesion is usually asymptomatic but is occasionally associated with chronic pelvic pain. Reported cases of endosalpingiosis are much less common than are cases of endometriosis. However, many pathologists don't use the term endosalpingiosis. We also suspect that some investigators have confused endosalpingiosis with endometriosis. However, it is important for pathologists to differentiate the lesion from peritoneal dissemination and lymph node metastasis of adenocarcinoma. In addition, endosalpingiosis is association with serous tumors of borderline malignancy of the ovary and peritoneum. We reviewed the literature and present histologic findings from a case of endosalpingiosis.
