Abstract

A new microelectrode control system, developed by the author, penetrates a microelectrode into the rat brain and simultaneously displays an image of the electrode on the CRT brain map. This system is a navigating system of the microelectrode and will be useful to the microelectrode technique at the following points. (1) The user is able to understand the voltage changes leaded from the electrode more easily because he looks at the image of the electrode on the brain map. (2) The user is able to estimate the position of the electrode by this image data. (3) The brain tissue sample will verify the image datum easily. (4) The user is able to control two microelectrodes with the dual electrode mode of the system.
