A closed landfill in Hokkaido, Japan has been studied to examine landfill temperature and gas composition. 93 new passive LFG extraction wells have been installed for stabilization of this landfill since the completion of landfilling in this landfill. Especially distributions of temperature and gas component are focused. It is confirmed that several wells derived air into the deep waste layers through those wells and worked effectively for aerobic biodegradation in the layers.
