In Japan,in areas without sewers system, technology has been developed to safely process and release and collected human feces.Anaerobic digestion has been the most widespread and has had a major impact until around 1970 as the technology. It is triggered by the Recommendation of the Economic Stability Headquarters(1950). However, the Recommendation was originally aimed at the safe conversion of feces to fertilizer, and it became difficult to release the overflow liqiud. Therefore, we investigated the research on human feces processing technology in Japan from 1930 to 1945,which was the basis of the Recommendation. At that time, researchers proceeded with resaerch on human feces conversion into manue for agriculture that became lack of feritilier during the War,and anaerobic digestion technology was considerd to be the most appropriate at that time.On the other hand, technology that can properly process the overflow liquid has not been paid attention and has not been developed.
