A Study on the Rolamite

Abstract

The relations between the external force and the band-generated-force are derived as the result of the analysis of the torque acting on rollers, and the displacements of rollers when an arbitrary force acts on rollers are shown both analytically and experimentally. And those between the band-generated-force and the displacement of rollers when two guide-surfaces are not parallel are also derived as for the loose geometry by means of the large deflection method. And the effects upon the band-generated-force of the out of parallelism of guide-surfaces, of the accuracies of the thickness and width of band and of the statical frictions are experimentally clarified. A new weighing balancer with an attenuator is shown as a result of the above analysis.
