Abstract
A turbocharged Diesel engine is designed referring to one set of values for the operating variables at the design point, i.e., to the set of the design point values for the variables, such as the scavenging pressure and temperature, the turbine inlet pressure and temperature, the engine speed, the excess air ratio, the engine output, the rotational speed of turbocharger, and the component efficiencies. While the previous papers were concerned with determining the design point performance of the turbocharged two-cycle Diesel engine, the present paper is concerned with the determination of the performance characteristics of the same engine unit operating under off-design conditions or at part-load, where the variables presented above have a set of values different from those at the design point.
